Kailua is a town with approximately 40,000 people located on the Windward and east side of Oahu. Best known for its highly rated powdery sand beaches that include Kailua Beach Park, Kalama Beach and Lanikai Beach that looks out to the iconic Mokulua islands. Above the Lanikai neighborhood on the Ka'iwa Ridge is a trail known as "the Pillboxes" that leads to two old military bunkers and sweeping views of the majestic and beautiful Windward coastline and Ko'olau mountain range. Hiking the Pillboxes is popular with residents and tourists alike especially to catch the beautiful view at sunrise and moon rise. This is the town I have called home for over 35 years and will never consider leaving! My general contractor husband and I have raised our children here and made it our place to live, work and play. I look forward to sharing more with you about Kailua and the many activities and events happening here and in the neighboring towns of Kaneohe and Waimanalo.
